Ans. Every Indian wants to have his own cow because it provides them milk and also provides calves for cultivation. In India farming is not much more mechanised hence a lot of villagers take the help of bullocks for cultivating their lands, People also make ghee’ from cow milk and sell it in the market. It gives them extra financial help. Cow is also known as ‘Gomata’ or ‘Mother Cow’ by the majority of Hindus. There are many mythological stories about cow and very much revered in India. In India no one is allowed to tease or frighten a cow. Instead they are being worshipped and held in a high esteem. Cows are the most favourite pet in the Indian household and all are pleased to hear the tinkling sound of the bells which are put round their necks.
Cows are useful not only in India but almost in all the countries of the world. With respect of the usefulness of cows, attempts are being made to enforce a ban on cow’s slaughter and most of the Indian state have passed certain laws for cow protection.
भारत में प्रत्येक व्यक्ति यह चाहता है उसकी अपनी एक गाय हो क्योंकि गायों द्वारा उन्हें दूध, घी, दही के अलावा ऐसे बछड़े भी प्राप्त होते हैं जो आगे बैल बनकर उनकी खेती बाड़ी में सहायक होते हैं। लोग दूध, घी, मक्खन, दही आदि बनाकर बाजार में बेच देते हैं। यही उनकी अतिरिक्त आय का स्रोत है। भारत में हिन्दू समुदाय के लोग गाय को ‘गोमाता’ कहते हैं तथा अनेक विषय में बहुत सी धार्मिक कहानियाँ प्रसिद्ध है। भारत में गायों की पूजा होती है इसलिये इनके साथ किसी प्रकार की छेड़छाड़ या हानि पहुँचाने की आज्ञा नहीं है। गाय न केवल भारत के लोगों के लिये उपयोगी है बल्कि पूरे विश्व में इनका अपना एक महत्व है। गायों के महत्व को देखते हुए गाय हत्या पर रोक लगाने के लिये एक विशेष अधिनियम पारित किया गया है तथा भारत के सभी राज्यों ने इसे सर्व सम्मति से पारित कर दिया है।
