Ans. This poem belongs to the ‘Lucy Group’ of poems. Whether Lucy was a creation of Wordsworth’s imagination or really existed in flesh and blood is still uncertain. But Lucy remains untraced. The poet himself, his biographers and critics are silent about her. In short, it should not be looked upon as an autobiographical poem. It should be approached for Wordsworth’s ideal and theory of the education of Nature. In this poem, the poet suggests the way in which man can receive good education at the hands of Nature. It is from his association with Nature that man receives vital feelings of delights. Lucy is an ideal girl of poet’s imagination who receives education at the hands of Nature and grow into a healthy and cultured lady. Man must live in close communication with Nature.
यह कविता लूसी समूह की कविताओं में से है। लूसी या तो वर्डसवर्य की कल्पना की उपज है अथवा एक मानव प्राणी के रूप में उसका अस्तित्व है यह अनिश्चित है, लेकिन लूसी अब तक अनजान ही है। कवि स्वयं, उसकी जीवनी लिखने वाले लोग और आलोचक उसके बारे में अब तक ग्रुप हैं संक्षेप में, कह सकते हैं कि यह कविता आत्म चरितात्मक नहीं है। यह वर्डसवर्थ के आदर्श और प्रकृति द्वारा शिक्षा के सिद्धान्त पर आधारित है। इस कविता में कवि सुझाव देता द्वारा मनुष्य शिक्षा प्राप्त कर सकता है। प्रकृति के सम्पर्क में रहकर मनुष्य आनन्द प्राप्त कर सकता है। कि प्रकृति लूसी कवि की कल्पना में एक आदर्श लड़की है जो प्रकृति के हाथों शिक्षा प्राप्त करती है और एक स्वस्थ व संस्कृति सम्पन्न महिला बन जाती है। मनुष्य को सदैव प्रकृति के सम्पर्क में रहना चाहिए।
